What is Citrix?
Citrix Metaframe Presentation Server is a technology that allows users to interact with applications on a server from a remote location.


How do I access Citrix from SRU computers?
Citrix can be accessed from SRU computers by right clicking on the PNAgent in the system tray, under "SRU Citrix" in the start menu, or via the web interface at http://citrix.sru.edu

 

How do I access Citrix from off campus or personal computers?
Citrix can be accessed from off campus or personal computers by logging into the web interface http://citrix.sru.edu


How do I install the Citrix Web client for Windows?
You can download the Citrix client for windows by clicking on the link to the right of login screen. You can also download the latest client from the Citrix download site http://www.citrix.com


How do I install the Citrix client for Mac?
Citrix can be accessed using a Mac with Internet Explorer or Safari and the Citrix Web Interface


The Citrix Web Interface indicates that the client is not installed when using Netscape, Mozilla, or Firefox
To manually register the plug-ins with the browser, follow these steps:

  1. Copy the following files from \Program Files\Citrix\ICAClient to \Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Plugins (for example):
    icaclobj.class
    cgpcfg.dll
    cgpcore.dll
    icalogon.dll
    npican.dll
    pscript.dll
    sslsdk_b.dll
    tcppserv.dll
  1. Create a folder called Resource in the Mozilla Firefox\Plugins directory, then a subfolder called en (\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Plugins\Resource\en).
  2. Copy the following files from \Program Files\Citrix\ICAClient\Resource\en\ to \Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\Plugins\Resource\en:
    icalogUI.dll
    npicanUI.dll
    sslsdkui.dll

What applications are available through Citrix?
Citrix allows all students to access programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Frontpage. Students may also be given access to applications pertaining to a specific class at the request of Faculty


How can faculty request for an application to be available through Citrix?
A number of factors will determine if an application can be made available through Citrix. Please email citrix@sru.edu for application requests or questions.


Why are some applications not in the Citrix Web Interface?
Software licensing may require the application to only be available on SRU Computers.
Citrix will display only the applications to which the user has access to.




Can I reset my password through Citrix Web Interface?
Yes, once logged into the Citrix Web Interface, click the "key" icon for the password change form.


How do I access my files through Citrix applications?
When using Citrix applications you may want to access files on your local computer or SRU network drives. When using an application you may be prompted to set the local file access with the dialog below. This will allow the application to have access to the drives on your local machine. These settings may be changed at a later time through the Connection Center in the system tray.




 
 




When clicking an applications you receive the message: "Windows cannot open this file: launch.ica"

The Citrix Web client is not installed. Download and install the Citrix Web Client, close and then reopen your web browser


When clicking an application you receive the message: "Cannot locate launch.ica"
This may be caused by having too many temporary internet files in Internet Explorer. Follow the steps below to clear your temporary internet files
